Get to know this point-to-point trail near Moab, Utah. Generally considered a moderately challenging route. This trail is great for camping and off-road driving, and it’s unlikely you’ll encounter many other people while exploring.
TRAIL NOTES
Trail consists of rock; sand and considerable slickrock with many steps exceeding 30″. Steep inclines and declines are prevalent. Enhanced off road equipment is required including, machine minimum 64″ wide, tall tires (35″+ required), onboard spare tire and axles, winch, maximized vehicle ground clearance and suspension travel. Roll over and vehicle damage likely.

Directions to meet your guide: From the Maverick gas station on the south side of Moab, drive south 11.8 miles on Highway 191 and turn left onto Black Ridge Road. Continue east on the gravel road 2.8 miles to the entrance on the left. Another source describes it as heading south on Hwy 191 approximately 13 miles, and just after the uphill passing lane ends, take the first left (it comes quickly, be prepared). Then follow the maintained dirt road and signs for about 3 miles to the cleared parking area on the left.
Parking:When you arrive at Area BFE, park and unload your vehicle in the Upper Lot, which is designated for day use and has picnic tables but no toilets or trash bins. If you plan to camp overnight, you’re allowed to do so in the Lower Lot on the east end of the property; just make sure to pack out everything you bring, including toilet paper, and it’s a good idea to bring a portable toilet and your own firewood since cutting down trees is not allowed. A secure donation dropbox is located near the entrance. Everyone entering the park must purchase an entry pass and fill out a waiver before heading out on the trails.
